Ty Cobb | T-206 Baseball Greats Series | 1oz Silver Bar
The T-206 baseball cards (1909–1911) are among the most iconic and collectible in the hobby. Known as the "White Border" set, they feature 524 lithographic portraits of major and minor league players, distributed by tobacco brands. These cards are prized for their detailed artwork, historical significance, and variations in print runs and back designs. The set remains highly sought after, featuring baseball greats such as Honus Wagner, Cy Young, Christy Mathewson, Ty Cobb, and Walter Johnson.
Tyrus Raymond “Ty” Cobb, a native of rural Narrows, Georgia, was the Hall of Fame’s leading vote-getter on its inaugural ballot in 1936, receiving 98% of the vote.
Known as “The Georgia Peach” Cobb played 24 seasons, including six as a player/manager, and set 90 records during his professional career – many still stand today, such as his .366 career batting average and 12 batting titles. Often recognized as one of the best hitters of all-time, Cobb’s resume includes an MVP award, a Triple Crown and a spot on the All-Century Team, among many other accomplishments.
Cobb is seen sliding in many of his iconic images, and for good reason, as he was known for his speed. He led the league in stolen bases six times, and ranks fourth all-time in steals. His legend was immortalized on baseball cards during his era, including the T-206 cards produced from 1909-1911. Three of those images used in the original T-206 series have been captured in this exclusive silver bar series by Elemetal.
